Latoya's Hair Regimen

As a mom of a toddler and a newborn, I'll admit it is difficult to find time to take care of ME. For my hair regimen, I try to take care of my hair and style it efficiently. I'll be first to admit... I'm not always successful. And sometimes my hair gets neglected.  On the blog, I will share how I juggle my many responsibilities with my hair/beauty regimen.  (I honestly don't know how some hair bloggers do the long styling sessions all the time. They have to look bad sometimes...right?)

Some naturalistas have a set hair regimen, which includes a specific wash day, a trim a certain number of weeks, a protein treatment every 6 weeks, etc. etc. I'll be honest.  I play things by ear.  If my hair feels dirty, I wash it. If it feels limp, I give it some protein.  If my twist out is holding strong, I'll keep rocking it.

With that aside, I do have some consistencies:

I tend to wash every two weeks
I co-wash weekly; daily when wearing wash and gos
I trim every 2-3 months
I do protein treatments about every 6 weeks
I rotate hairstyles depending on my mood

Shampoos and Cleansers
Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Shampoo
Bentonite Clay (mixed with ACV)
Shea Moisture Purification Masque (cleansing co-wash)

  1. Thanks LaToya,
I think I have a better understanding of how to use the products that I have. Maybe sometimes I get in a funk because some products work better than others for a specific task. I'm really starting to believe that shea butter and all of its wonderful benefits are best for twist outs instead of these twist creams with shea butter. Thanks for sharing!!

    1. So far... twist creams have been an ultimate fail. Curl Enhancing Smoothie used to my go to product, but now my hair HATES it. Le sigh...

  4. I have alot of hair and it is frizzy. My hair is short but not to short I want to grow it long and pretty for the school year. Can you give a hair regimen to follow by and tell me what products to use. And how to keep it from being frizzy and wild. Thank you!!
