Name: Monèt
How long have you been
natural? I will celebrate my 3
year curliversary in November. I transitioned from November 2009 until January
2011 when I did the "final chop". (I cut the relaxer off gradually as
I transitioned.)
Describe your hair. My hair is thick and coarse. It's
always thirsty and loves shea butter. Twists are my go-to style every week
after washing. During the week I'll wear the twists and twist outs and puffs on
the weekends.
What is your current hair
regimen? Every Sunday I
separate my hair into four sections and start with a co-wash and detangle. I
always make sure to end my "wash" with cold water to prevent frizz by
closing the cuticle/hair shaft. I add my leave-in to each section then my oil
while my hair is still soaking wet. Then I twist and braid it depending on the
style adding my cream as I go.
What are five products
you can't live without?
Shea Butter, Heat Therapy Wrap, a wide tooth comb, water and Carol's Daughter
Rosemary Mint Conditioner.
What is the one
product/treatment/technique that has made the biggest difference in your hair? The Hair Therapy. I love it because my
hair is so dry that deep treatments are a must and this makes them so easy.
What is the biggest
mistake you have made with your hair? Using heat to
transition. I was very lucky I didn't have noticeable heat damage.
Any advice for other
naturalistas? Do what works for you! Don't let what
other people say (or use) influence you because everything doesn't work for
everyone. Do lots of research before you make any drastic decisions whether
it's big chopping, using heat, etc. Utilize resources like http://denaturalistas.blogspot.com/ and YouTube,
that's what they're here for.
Is there a blog/webpage
where we can find you? www.curlsandmo.com is my newest passion.
